INTO THE ATLANTIC -- PORT HAWKSBURY TO LISCOMBE

Up and off just before 7 am, we left Port Hawksbury and headed out into the Atlantic Ocean.  This is the part of the trip that I have been nervous about, as it can be pretty rough and remote here.  The sea was not rough, but there were big ocean swells, and haze and fog.  A long trip in those conditions.  I got seasick and remained seasick for most of the day, sleeping on and off.   A long day for me and for Michael as well.

86 miles and 9.5 hours later we arrived at Liscombe Lodge, a  wonderful, old fashioned, rustic and comfortable Nova Scotia resort.   Liscombe Lodge is 5 miles up a river, and has a small dock which holds only 3 boats, so they raft a couple more.  We had 5 overnight.   I recovered quickly as soon as we reached terra firma, and we had a nice dinner at the lodge.

Liscombe Lodge offers a number of cottages, guest rooms, fine dining, tennis, swimming, hiking, kayaking, canoeing.  The marine diesel was cheaper than all other stops in CA, and we met some interesting people at the dock.  We stayed two nights, did some hiking, and really enjoyed this lovely stop.
